The first day of the 2016 CAAR Conference has officially come to a close, and the CAAR staff and board of directors are thrilled with the turnout and enthusiasm of this year's early attendees.

The pre-conference workshop, focusing on retail location management, featured presenters sharing topics that ranged from safety planning, to human resources, to gaps in understanding between retail salespeople and their customers.

The Icebreaker Reception later in the evening welcomed a great number of guests - from first-time conference attendees to seasoned CAARCon veterans. The crowd buzzed with the excitement of seeing old associates, and the opportunity to network with some of Canada's most prominent agri-retail movers and shakers.

After cocktails, the Industry Evening was officially under way - a night where delegates were encouraged to kick off their conference week with staff and/or networking dinners at some of Saskatoon's many fine dining establishments.

Networking was high on the list of priorities for many guests - and of course, the CAAR staff. "The conference is actually one of the reasons I love CAAR - and my job - so much," said Delaney Ross Burtnack, CAAR president and CEO. "Getting to reconnect with people I've known for years, or put faces to names of some new contacts, is one of the greatest things about this event."

The rest of the week has much more in store: speaker sessions designed to provide insights and tangible benefits to help agri-retailers succeed, thought-provoking discussions and a variety of networking opportunities.
