The CAAR staff and board are shocked and deeply saddened at the loss of one of our Alberta directors, Derek Kuffert. Derek was a highly engaged and innovative thinker, and a strong supporter of the work we are doing at CAAR. His insight and experience will be missed. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues impacted by his untimely passing.

Derek William Kuffert passed away January 14, 2017. He was loving husband to Alana and they shared 10 happy years of marriage. He was father to his sweety, Kayleen and step son Bryce.

Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He was the eldest son of Willie & Judy Kuffert. He attended Rabbit Lake High School and furthered his education with the University of Saskatchewan to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He was presently the Regional Sales Manager at CF Industries.

Derek was a member of the Lutheran church through his early years.

Derek was an outdoors enthusiast and could be found on the lake fishing either summer or winter, riding his snowmobile, downhill or cross country skiing , and pretty much anything that involved the outdoors. He was a member of the Priddis Greens Golf Club and spent many hours on the course. Derek and Alana shared the same love for adventure and travel.

Derek will be remembered for his big smile, his outgoing personality and his love for his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Alana, his daughter Kayleen, and his stepson Bryce. His parents Willie & Judy, his brothers Jason(Anita)& Devin(Tara). Nieces and Nephews Zane, Kiara, Shayna & Kaden. His mother in-law Shirley Dinwoodie, sister in-laws Gillian(Dave), & Cara (Mark), nephews Brady, Brodie, Brayden & Thomas.

Derek is predeceased by his father in-law Tom Dinwoodie , Grandparents & uncles.

Funeral Service will be held January 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at the Dekker Centre in North Battleford, Sk.

For those coming out of town, Hotels can be reserved at the Tropical Inn or the BCMI in North Battleford or any number of hotels in Saskatoon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University of Saskatchewan, Memorial Scholarship in Agriculture.
