With the heavy rains experienced across the prairies, manufacturers are now adapting to the new demand for implements that can handle wet prairie conditions.

Bourgault recently introduced two new field preparation machines: the SPS 360 Soil Prep System and the XR 770 eXtended Range Harrow.

Jason Kirsch of Bourgault, says farmers have added tillage back into the farming process due to the wetter trend across the prairie grain region.

The SPS 360 uses cutting coulters, heavy-duty shanks, harrows and rolling baskets, all of which cut, distribute and incorporate residue, bust clumps and re-level and firm the soil. The XR 770 eXtended Range Harrow has an in-cab Adjustable Down Force (ADF) which uses hydraulics to provide down-force or up-force to each harrow section and makes sure that the down force of each harrow is constant, regardless of contour position.

The SPS 360 is available in 40-foot and 50-foot working widths and the XR 770 is available in 70-foot and 90-foot working widths.
