CAAR is pleased to announce that agronomists and CCAs can become 4R Designated at the 2018 CAAR Conference! Take advantage of this excellent opportunity for your staff to grow their knowledge and gain a new certification.

Fertilizer Canada is hosting a 4R Designation Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the 2018 CAAR Conference.

“CAAR is proud to support the 4R Designation program, and we are so excited to offer this opportunity as part of the 2018 CAAR Conference,” says Lynda Nicol, director of member services at CAAR. “What better way to kick off the agri-retail event of the year than growing your knowledge and certifications?”

Cassandra Cotton, director of sustainability at Fertilizer Canada, says attending the workshop at the conference has added value for CCAs and agronomists, rather than completing the 4R Designation Training online.

“This workshop gives you the extra benefit of face-to-face interactions. You will have the opportunity to speak directly with the instructor, Dr. Dan Heaney, who actually wrote the course,” says Cotton. “The workshop offers more interaction in terms of being able to ask questions about specific practices or anything else related to the course.

“The Designation Program is really meant to ensure the agri-retailer has an opportunity to provide specific guidance to their grower customers relating to 4R Nutrient Stewardship,” she says.

4R Nutrient Stewardship advocates that sustainable nutrient management can be achieved using the ‘4Rs' – using the right fertilizer source, at the right rate, at the right time and in the right place.

The Knowledge Your Customers Need

Cotton says by becoming 4R Designated, agri-retailers can help their grower customers demonstrate compliance with sustainability requirements, which will give them access to particular markets.

“The 4R program is being recognized by food companies and sustainable supply-chain initiatives,” she says. “So, we can help growers address these kinds of sustainability-compliance questions and ensure that their product is getting to market. If agri-retailers want to help their grower customers achieve that, this is the way to do it.”

Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to kick off the agri-retail event of the year by gaining the knowledge and certification you need to help your customers achieve sustainable nutrient management.

The 4R Designation Workshop will be held at the 2018 CAAR Conference on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 from 12 – 4:30 pm. Workshop registration is free of charge!
