A CAAR Conference favourite, the Pro-Ag Investments Auction supports a wide range of initiatives at CAAR that are designed to strengthen and enhance the Canadian ag industry. This year’s auction will be held on Wednesday Feb. 15 from 3:30 – 5 p.m.

Funds raised at the CAAR Pro-Ag Investments Auction go directly to important causes like CAAR’s advocacy efforts, support of industry initiatives, agricultural scholarships, upgrades to existing programs and services and the development of new ones. Last year, the auction raised nearly $85,000 to support these important endeavours.

“The auction allows us to continue so many of the efforts our members count on us for, like advocacy, lobbying and representing them and their interests at regulatory consultations,” says Delaney Ross Burtnack, president and CEO of CAAR. “The auction is very important to CAAR, and every year we’re touched by the high level of participation from our members.”

The auction is always a lively and raucous affair. Take advantage of the opportunity to plan your purchases while supporting CAAR’s many worthwhile endeavors that aim to strengthen the industry you are passionate about. Raise your hand to bid on the great auction items as they are called out by our ever-popular auctioneers, Dallas Baillie and Sheldon Matsalla.

The auction wouldn’t be possible without the generosity and enthusiasm of our members. We receive many generous donations toward the auction. Some members donate prizes which are then auctioned off, and others donate money to CAAR which is used to purchase prizes. And of course, the auction wouldn’t be possible without the enthusiastic members who come to the auction every year to bid on the fantastic auction items.

Because of the generosity of members and the great success of last year’s auction, in 2016 CAAR was able to:

  • Participate in more than 30 regulatory consultations, committee meetings and other industry events on behalf of agri-retailers.
  • Provide scholarships to students at the University of Manitoba and Olds College in Alberta.
  • Conduct research on issues like the impact of increased ammonia tank testing.
  • Lobby successfully on national initiatives such as the Ammonia Code of Practice, as well as provincial and regional issues like the Manitoba nutrient application ban.
  • Build awareness for Keep it Clean, 4R Nutrient Stewardship and other sustainable initiatives.
