Committed to Continuous Improvement

Continuous improvement. It’s a phrase we hear repeated a lot in ag circles lately and one I quite like, especially in the new year when there is such an immediate drive to be better, do better and change for the better. Personally, the idea that gradual, purposeful and committed change happens on an ongoing basis appeals to me: when together, we take stock of what we’ve done — good and bad — and we commit to continue to do the best we are able.

I find it motivating when we are vocal about our accomplishments and we celebrate our ongoing drive to improve. That continuous improvement equals big change over time, and it’s something we are no stranger to here at CAAR.

CAAR’s role as Canada’s agri-retail advocate has been an incredible example of continuous improvement, helmed by our president and CEO Delaney Ross Burtnack. It’s one you can expect to hear a lot about in the coming year, as we are more committed than ever to being an active and vocal supporter of the agri-retail industry. In fact, we’ve dedicated this issue of the magazine to advocacy, doing our part to keep you informed on current issues, initiatives and upcoming regulatory changes.

As you read, you may be surprised to learn about the depth of CAAR’s advocacy efforts in the past year. Many of the issues we touch on in our “2016: CAAR’s Year in Review” story may not have even been on your radar, mainly because CAAR, along with others, were working hard in the background to ensure your business wasn’t negatively affected. As you review our look ahead at 2017, you’ll get a peek behind the curtain at the issues and initiatives CAAR is actively engaging in on behalf of agri-retailers in the coming year. Again, you may be surprised by our level of involvement.

I hope you enjoy learning more about CAAR’s advocacy efforts, as well as the efforts of others in the ag industry to not only do good, but to share their good work with those around us.

All the best,

Lynda Nicol
