Banner for Blue Book

Alberta’s Crop Protection Guide, more commonly known as the Blue Book, has grown to be one of the most valued resources amongst Alberta farmers, agronomists and agriculture professionals.

Thanks to the continual contributions from the crop protection industry, the Blue Book has delivered annual pesticide product additions and updates to farmers and agronomists for over 20 years.

   Four Crop Commissions

Formerly produced by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, Alberta’s Blue Book is now being produced by four of Alberta’s crop commissions – Alberta Barley, Alberta Canola, Alberta Pulse Growers and the Alberta Wheat Commission. The commissions are currently developing the 2021 Blue Book, which will be available this upcoming March.

With a production model and process in place, the commissions have hired an experienced consultant who is leading the Blue Book’s product additions and updates. Additionally, the Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions’ internal staff with GrainsWest magazine are leading the design and publishing.

Print and digital copies of the 2021 Blue Book will be available in March. However, the industry will be able to place advanced pre-orders for the 2021 Blue Book in the coming weeks.

The commissions encourage farmers, agronomists, retailers and other industry stakeholders to visit albertabluebook.com and subscribe to the email list to receive updates and news on release dates, plus information on how to purchase the Blue Book.
