U of Manitoba CAAR Agronomy Award Winner Announced

CAAR annually presents an Agronomy Award of $1,000 to a deserving agriculture student at the University of Manitoba.

Congratulations to Kevin Jungbluth on winning this award.  Jungbluth was also awarded the Governor General's Bronze Medal for Highest Standing in the Two-Year Diploma Program.

The U of M’s Agriculture Diploma program is a two-year, hands-on program that prepares students to manage a farm or work in agri-business. Courses cover production, marketing, business management and crop management.

"Recognizing and supporting agriculture students – especially future farmers, goes a long way to building potential ag retail customers," says Rezansoff. "These are the future leaders and innovators in agriculture production."

In the University's Alumni Newsletter, Jungbluth explained his personal philosophy after completing his diploma: “The basis of everything that’s done in farming starts with the soil, so we need to use it and manage it so that we’re economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable on our farms.”

Jungbluth says he developed a new appreciation for the processes responsible for productivity on the farm from soil fertility, to grain marketing and other aspects of agricultural economics.

Jungbluth is eager to return to the family farm after graduation.  He anticipates he will continue the family legacy with his father and brother.  Jungbluth says he hopes to successfully pass the family farm onto the next generation.

CAAR’s ability to support agriculture students is made possible through member support of CAAR’s Pro-Ag Investments Auction.
