A new term was coined at the recent CAFA update in May 2016: A "farminist" is one who strives for an equal-opportunity approach to work on the farm.

Maggie Van Camp, senior editor of Country Guide, coined the term while proposing that the culture of agriculture needs a new mindset to speak to the many women who operate farms in Canada.

Organizations like Emerge Ag have also recognized the growing role of women in agriculture. They will host the second CONNECT Conference, a Celebration of Women in Farming, this November in Saskatoon, SK.
