CAAR will join other industry stakeholders in the ongoing consultation with Transport Canada regarding potential amendments to Part 6: Training, under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Transport Canada is looking to provide additional details and greater clarity on training requirements, thereby enhancing compliance and strengthening safety in the transport of dangerous goods.

CAAR participated early in 2016 in the initial round of consultations submitting comments on behalf of the agri-retail sector. Transport Canada has now responded with a proposed approach to update the regulations based on that initial round of feedback. The proposed option is expected to take steps to meet the objectives of increasing clarity and strengthen compliance and safety in the industry.

CAAR will review the proposal and provide additional comment by the response deadline of February 28, 2017. As is CAAR’s practice, we will consult with other industry stakeholders to ensure a consistent message is brought forward from the agricultural industry.

CAAR will keep members updated as the opportunity arises for input and discussion on these important regulatory issues. Contact the CAAR office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 800-463-9323 if you have any questions.
