Icebreaker Cocktail Reception Kicks off the 2017 CAAR Conference

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Icebreaker Cocktail Reception, kicking off the 2017 CAAR Conference. The reception is always a great chance to mingle with familiar faces and make new connections, and this year was no exception.

A Look Ahead at Day Two

The CAAR Conference opens bright and early tomorrow morning, so be sure to join us for breakfast on the Tradeshow Floor from 7:30 - 8:30 am. After the conference opening remarks, get ready for a full day of sessions tailored for agri-retailers.

The first speaker of the conference, Kevin Hursh, will touch on major trends in today's industry in his presentation, "Understanding Farmer Motivation." Hursh will examine the upcoming carbon tax, sustainability requirements of end-use customers and economic issues facing producers.

Hear an array of perspectives during the panel discussion "Build Your Business by Supporting Industry Initiatives: Sustainability via Canadian Field Print" from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Wednesday. The Canadian Field Print Initiative has been undertaking pilot projects to establish regional benchmarks for the sustainability of all major field crops. The panel will discuss how partnerships - including those with agri-retailers - are crucial to data collection and engagement efforts.

Don't miss out one one of the most exciting new additions to the conference - the Innovation Showdown. Ten presenters get two minutes each to wow with audience with an out-of-the-box presentation on a great idea, product or service.

After the Innovation Showdown, be sure to stick around for a CAAR Conference tradition: the CAAR Pro-Ag Investments Auction! Support the industry you know and love by bidding on great prizes as they're called out by our auctioneers Dallas Baillie and Sheldon Matsalla.

Wrap up the first day on a high note at the CAAR's Choice Awards Banquet. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the CAAR's Choice Awards. Come celebrate the accomplishments of your colleagues with a delicious banquet dinner and hilarious entertainment from host Darrin Rose, who has been called "one of the hottest comedians in Canada" by GQ magazine.
