Manitoba CAAR member feedback needed for upcoming meeting with Manitoba Sustainable Development. CAAR will meet with Manitoba Sustainable Development on April 3 to begin discussing whether a variance will be required this spring to the restriction on winter nutrient application in Manitoba, which is currently in effect until midnight on April 10, 2017.

Among the factors that Manitoba Sustainable Development considers when reviewing this deadline is whether growers find their local conditions are suitable to begin applying fertilizer earlier than April 11. If you are hearing concern from your customers and see conditions that may favour an early variance, please forward your feedback to Delaney Ross Burtnack at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.before 9:00 am CDT on April 3 so we can share this feedback with the committee.

Please keep an eye on www.manitoba.ca/nutrientdates where Manitoba Sustainable Development will post any updates. The main factors they consider include average soil temperatures above freezing, as well as the long term forecast to confirm above freezing temperatures and no pending snowfalls.

If you would like to be included on CAAR’s agronomy outreach contact list, ensuring you are among the first to receive critical agronomic updates, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
