As part of their commitment to the advancement of safety and security in the agri-food industry, Fertilizer Canada has created the Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) Security Code of Practice to create uniform security practices for the handling, transportation, storage and sale of CAN in Canada. Members of Fertilizer Canada who handle CAN are required to be certified by December 31, 2019.

This year, Fertilizer Canada hosted two informational webinars for members to provide an overview of the newly developed Code, the third-party audit process, implementation schedule and the Code’s requirements. Recordings of the webinars are now available online for those who were unable to participate or are looking for a refresher. The webinars can be found on the Fertilizer Canada website, in both English and French, using the link provided here.

The CAN Security Code, Implementation Guide, Appendices and other resources can be accessed through the Fertilizer Canada website or through the Agrichemical Warehousing Standards Association (AWSA) website.

For updates and more information about the CAN Security Code as it becomes available, please register to be added to the official mailing list.
