Congratulations to Horizon Fertilizers Ltd. (Bruno, Sask.) and Olds Fertilizers and Sundre Soil Services (Olds, Alta.) for winning this year’s ADAMA Thank-a-Retailer Community Contest! Both retailers received $15,000 to support worthy causes in their communities.

ADAMA’s annual contest encourages rural communities to rally around their retailers, propelling them to victory by earning points on social media and through online activities. This year, of the four regional winners, two were CAAR members!

Horizon Fertilizers Ltd.

Known for their willingness to lend a hand and support all events and functions in and around their small community of Bruno, Sask, the Horizon team played for the Bruno Artificial Ice Committee in the Thank-a-Retailer contest.

Horizon’s $15,000 winnings will make a dent in the committee’s $380,000 fundraising goal to purchase and install an artificial ice plant and system into the Bruno Rink. The rink is a hub of the community and the upgrades to the facility will help to support the local hockey, sledge hockey and broomball teams and figure skaters by providing them with safe, reliable ice.

Olds Fertilizers and Sundre Soil Services

Now in it’s third generation, this family-run business is deeply rooted in the community it serves. To help support accessible health care in their area, the Olds team pledged their winnings to the Sundre Hospital Futures Committee.

The Sundre Hospital Futures Committee is fundraising to build a new hospital in Sundre, located 100 km northwest of Calgary. The new facility will provide improved emergency and long-term health care services to the rural community.
