Banner for Provide input into the industry’s recycling programs in Manitoba

Manitoba Environment and Climate is seeing input into the recycling programs that impact the agricultural sector.

As you may know, Cleanfarms’ collection programs are currently undergoing several changes:

  • The collection sites for empty pesticides, fertilizer, and containers (23L & up), are gradually shifting away from municipal collections sites and into ag retailers. These changes occur community-by-community following one-on-one outreach to the municipalities and ag retailers. Details can be found here.
  • The collection of seeds, pesticides, and inoculant bags is ramping up with increased accessibility. Cleamfarms proposes that these bags (along with the one-way, non-deposit bulk containers (23L & over), be designed under its government-approved program plan to put the administration in place to ensure long-term program delivery.

These changes will give farmers a single collection point for all these materials.

To learn more about these changes, please review Cleanfarms’ program plan.
