The Government or Canada recently released its rules for the upcoming 3800 MHz Spectrum auction, and has chosen to implement spectrum caps and strong deployment conditions.  This spectrum will be key to delivering both 5G and rural wireless broadband, so it is important to the agriculture community.  

The deadline to provide feedback on the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada discussion document: Reducing emissions arising from the application of fertilizer in Canada’s agriculture sector has been extended until August 31, 2022.  The Canada ag retail industry will be significantly impacted by emission changes, so CAAR urgently needs your feedback.

CAAR participated in the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops hosted by Canada Grains Council earlier this month.  

On Monday, June 13th several agriculture organizations appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.  The Committee is chaired by Kody Blois, Member of Parliament for Kings—Hants, Nova Scotia.  The committee is currently studying the issue of food security.

The discussion document progresses the next steps of the December 2020, Government of Canada Strengthened Climate Plan, “A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy.” It will likely have a significant impact on the ag retail industry in Canada, so CAAR urgently needs your feedback.

The Government of Saskatchewan has re-signed a 2016 Memorandum of Co-operation (MOC) with Fertilizer Canada to support continued education, training and expansion regarding 4R Nutrient Stewardship in the province for an additional three years..

CAAR Member Koch Ag & Energy Solutions (Koch) and OCP have signed an agreement under which a Koch affiliate will acquire a 50% interest in Jorf Fertilizers Company III (JFC III) from OCP, the world’s largest phosphate mining and leading global fertilizer group. When closed, the transaction will establish a 50/50 joint venture.
