No Concerns with New Pesticides

The Market Access Committee has released information about new pesticides in corn and soy that will be launched for the 2023 crop season. The committee stated it has no trade concerns with the use of five new corn pesticides: Zolera FX PCP No. 33367 from UPL; Veltyma DLX PCP NO 34166 and 29767 from BASF; V-10504 FS Lumiscend Pro PCP No. 34421 from Valent/Corteva; Insight PCP No 34234 from ISK; and Voraxor Complete PCP No. 33968 and 32542 from BASF. Two additional new soy pesticides were also cleared of concern: Voraxor Complete PCP No. 33968 and 32542; and Zeltera 34331 from Valent. The Maximum Residues Limits (MRLs) of crop protection products were evaluated by the Committee against MRLs in key export markets. Product use information (e.g., use rates, the timing of application(s), Canada-relevant crop residue data, projected sales data, etc.) was considered as part of the MRL assessment and risk management.

Ag Plastic in Québec Changes

Québec’s Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques implemented regulations regarding the recovery and reclamation of products by companies. Cleanfarms has prepared a webpage to help decipher the information for those in the agriculture industry. Included in its many provisions, the Québec legislation places regulatory obligations on companies that supply products and packaging to farmers. The webpage shows that membership in Cleanfarms allows suppliers to meet their provincial regulatory obligations in Québec and elsewhere.
