CAAR Voices Concern over Announcement of Science Advisory Committee

Intro for MRL Concerns

The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health recently announced that the government will be forming a new Science Advisory Committee on Pest Control Products in Canada. The Committee will provide scientific advice, as appropriate, prior to certain evidence-based federal decisions on pesticides, including on pesticide Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs).

CAAR proudly represents CAAR members and the ag retailer community on the Domestic MRL Committee. CAAR will work together with the committee to ensure regulations regarding Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) are fair, while ensuring that Canadian exports are not exposed to unacceptable trade risk. 

Last Week to Comment on Draft MRL Policy

If your company or organization hasn’t yet submitted comments to the Canada Grains Council (CGC) on the draft Market Acceptance of Pesticide Use Policy, this is the last week to do so. The CGC is consulting stakeholders on this policy to manage trade compliance risks until August 31, 2019. Read more for details on how to view the consultation materials and submit comments.
