Representatives from CropLife Canada, Canterra Seeds (representing the Canadian Seed Trade Association) and Fertilizer Canada will be covering several hot topics in the areas of crop protection, seed and fertilizer this informative session.

  • Dennis Prouse, vice president of government affairs at CropLife Canada, will be on hand to discuss the proposed phase-out of two neonicotinoid pesticides — clothianidin and thiamethoxam – and its potential ramifications for retailers. Read more about the proposed phase-out here.
  • Erin Armstrong, who is director of industry and regulatory affairs with Canterra Seeds, will be representing the Canadian Seed Trade Association (CSTA) in the session. She will be giving an update on the AAFC/CFIA consultation process on a new royalty collection system for cereals, wheat in particular, and the two models being discussed. 
  • Cassandra Cotton from Fertilizer Canada will be rounding out the presentation with a review of the CSA B620/622-14 Standard, which came into effect at the beginning of last year, and an overview of Fertilizer Canada’s initiatives supporting sustainability, compliance and risk management, and 4R Nutrient Stewardship.
