Banner for 1.	AAFC Stakeholder Engagement regarding COVID-19 Paused During Election

As you are all aware, the federal general election will be held on September 20th. This means we are now in a writ period which impacts Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) capacity to engage with stakeholders.

According to AAFC, we are now in a period where government activity is subject to restraint under what is often referred to as the “caretaker convention.” The caretaker convention reflects the need for the Government to confine itself to necessary public business and to avoid binding future governments to the extent possible.

As a result, AAFC’s COVID-19 Sector Stakeholder Calls will be paused until further notice and COVID-19 Information updates will be sent only on an ‘as needed’ basis.
