The Prairie Certified Crop Adviser Board plans to launch a 4R Nutrient Management Specialty (4R NMS) for CCAs in February 2019.

Over the past year, the Prairie CCA Board has collaborated with Fertilizer Canada on the development of the 4R Nutrient Management Specialty (NMS) through an expert review committee process, to determine the performance objectives of the exam for fulfilling the Prairie 4R NMS. Similar to the 4R NMS CCA program in Ontario launched in early 2016, Fertilizer Canada is working with the Prairie CCA Board to develop a Prairie specific 4R NMS CCA Exam study guide targeted to be made available by end of November.

With a target launch date of February 2019, the 4R NMS CCA Exam is an option for CCAs registering for exams in December. Local retail and agronomic providers are often a Canadian farmer’s first choice for reliable resources and advice when making on-farm decisions. Providing formal, recognized training to CCAs will ensure that farmers receive trusted information about 4R Nutrient Stewardship as a practical tool to enhance profitability and environmental sustainability.
